Welcome!

Welcome to the Pink Ribbon Caregiver blog.  This blog has been created to empower, encourage and supoort the caregivers of breast cancer patients.  After we have been empowered, encouraged and supported, we then can do the same for our breast cancer patients.  We cannot give what we do not have.

Cancer invaded our lives like a mighty rushing wind.  I say 'our lives' because cancer does not affect the patient alone.  It affects the lives of all those connected with the patient.  Because of what my mother endured and what I learned as one of her caregivers, I want to help others.  I want cancer to be eradicated, but until it has been, caregivers need support.  I want to share what I learned and have you contribute your experiences and triumphs with all of us.

My mother, Joyce Ann Heiliger Warner, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001.  She was a fighter.  Don't let that big smile fool you.

I may have been one of Mom's caregivers, but she was my most ardent cheerleader.  She called me 'PT' for her 'Personal Trainer' during her fight.  Because of what I learned through the process, I made this promise to her:  "I will continue to be a 'PT'.  I will not let what I learned end here."

In the coming posts I will share what I learned and am continuing to learn.  Please stay tuned.
